Feed it your experience, not just a job title
A job title tells a generator about the role. It says nothing about you. That’s why so many generated letters could be sent to five employers unchanged. Give the tool your resume and the full offer, and you get something worth editing.
Four AI cover letter generators, compared
Jobscan works as a cover letter generator from resume and job description: you give it both, and it drafts from them. Handy if you already use its scanner.
Kickresume documents a letter workflow built on a resume you select plus the job details. Rezi offers an AI cover letter generator alongside its resume tools.
Twoweeks, our product, writes the letter from the CV you choose and the offer you saved, in a warm, direct or formal tone. The same experience powers your tailored resume, so the two documents tell one story.
You can also draft in ChatGPT by pasting text or uploading files. It works, but you supply all the structure and checking yourself.

What “personalized” should actually mean
One requirement from the offer, one real example from your past. “At Field Studio, I redesigned onboarding with product and engineering” beats “I am a passionate, results-driven team player” every time.
Watch the numbers. If the draft adds a 30% lift or a team of twelve that you never mentioned, cut it. No number beats a made-up number.
A simple structure that works
- Opening: the role, and the one thing about it that caught your eye.
- Proof: one or two examples that match what they ask for.
- Why them: something specific from the offer or the company.
- Close: an invitation to talk. No grovelling, no promises.
Change the tone, keep the facts
Ask for a direct version and a warmer one. They should differ in phrasing, never in employers, results or seniority. Read both out loud and keep the one you could say in an interview.
Applying in French or Spanish? A good cover letter generator from job description should write natively in that language, not translate English clichés. And a translation should never quietly promote you.
Fair questions
Can an AI cover letter generator work from my resume alone?
It can produce a draft, but add the offer. Your resume doesn’t know what the employer is asking for, and that link is the whole point of the letter.
Can I send the first draft as is?
Read it first. Check names, facts and tone, and follow any employer rules about AI use. Then send it with a clear conscience.
